I frequently get asked this questions by adults and friends at school. I don’t really have one definite answer for this question other than “I think I have pretty good style and I like to be different.” I’ve followed fashion bloggers long before my days of becoming one myself and the thought of being a fashion blogger was always intriguing. I’ve always considered myself to have above average style and better style than most of my peers so I started thinking “why don’t I start a blog and post my outfits and products just like the fashion bloggers that I follow do?” Well little did I know, that’s not all there is to it. Fashion blogging is no doubt HARD work. Blogging is planning out weekly outfits and never wearing the same thing twice. Blogging is having to have a nice camera and a personal photographer to take dozens of photos per outfit for you. It is sitting at the kitchen table editing photos and combing through them to find the ones that are blog worthy. Blogging is emailing brands and other bloggers about collaborations. It is constantly trying to increase your fans and social media base and interacting with your followers. Blogging is going 35 minutes out of your way to a Krispy Kreme just for one doughnut that’ll make a pretty photo. Those are only a few of the things bloggers deal with and have to think about on a daily basis. I wanted to start blogging because I saw how successful other bloggers were and I was confident that I had the potential (and the closet) to be just as successful. Fashion is something I love and something that is a great part of my life. I think that fashion represents who a person is. In a way, it is a form of art. Not everyone can crack up to be the next Picasso, and fashion is the same way. Not everyone has the talent, dedication, and drive that the fashion world requires. Fashion is a way of expressing your emotions and intentions. I use not only my wardrobe, but my blog to express and share those emotions and intentions that I have with you all. I started a blog because I wanted to go above and beyond my friends and classmates. Instead of just wearing my clothes to school for people to see, I wanted to create a way that I can showcase them to the world. Some days I have no energy to put together a nice outfit and would rather just wear a tee shirt out, but having a fashion blog and being seen in the eyes of others as a "fashion blogger" has turned out to be great motivation for always looking my best. Blogging gives me a feeling of purpose and empowerment. I love knowing that thousands of people are checking my blog every week for my next post. It is an awesome feeling knowing that large name brand companies whose clothes I have been wearing for years want ME to be a representative for their company and their products. When I first started blogging, my blog started out very slow. I have come so far in the last eight months and while some days I have no motivation to write my next post, I love blogging and I love sharing my life with you. I have to give credit to you all who are reading this right now. Thank you for you following me and my blog and providing me with nothing but compliments and motivation to do more! My blog still has so far to come and I hope all of you will continue supporting me however far I go.

Unfortunately, while the north is getting blasted with storm Juno, we are still sitting at 30-50 degree weather here in South Carolina. The mornings are chilly in the low 30's and the afternoons are getting up to mid 40-50's. This presents us with a wardrobe delima - if we dress to stay warm in the mornings, we'll be sweating by afternoon and if we dress to accommodate afternoon temps, well freeze in the morning. Today I found the solution - blanket scarves! The scarf is made out of a thick material and literally unfolds into a blanket sized square. I paired it with a plain white tunic, leggings, and boots so that way, when I started to get warm, I could just take the scarf off! Very warm, yet cool, but also comfy and cute! Watch: Kors Orange Bit Bracelet: Charming Charlie Brown Bracelet: Loft Earrings: Tory Burch Boots: Tory Burch Tunic: Target Scarf: Target Ring: Pandora Princess Ring Yesterday afternoon, I spontaneously made the decision I was going to go get my hair cut and colored despite the promise I made to myself to not color my hair again because of the recent mishaps I've had with my former stylist. But I did it! And boy was it time..my roots were even beginning to scare me! My new stylist took off about an inch of dead ends and made me a few shades darker and I love it! While I was sitting in the chair waiting for my color to set, I was looking at all the products sitting on the counter and was inspired to write a post about my daily morning routine and all of my favorite products. So here goes! First thing I do when getting ready in the morning is apply my primer. For about a year or so I was using the Smashbox Photo Finish face primer ( $36 ) until I ran out one day and needed primer quick and didn't have time to go all the way to Sephora. I went to Walmart and grabbed the Hard Candy Sheer Envy Illuminating Primer ($8) and I was so surprised. The Hard Candy primer works just as well, if not better than the Smashbox primer and only for a fraction of the cost!! I am no doubt never going back to Smashbox! For my eyes, I use Prestige Primed & Ready Eye Primer ($10 -Ulta.) For my eyeshadow, I use Too Faced Natural Eyes Neutral Eye Shadow Collection ($36- Sephora.) I love that it has nine different shadow as apposed to the traditional three because it gives you more options to choose from. I typically only use the first and second rows but the second one is my favorite and what I'm wearing in the photo at the top! Ah, face makeup, the most important of them all. Face makeup will make or break you. I figured this out the hard way in middle school, nobody likes caked on orange face makeup. I was saved freshman year when I started using Bobbi Brown for the first time and I don't think I will ever use anything else now. I love it! The workers know how to match you to your exact shade and show you how to apply it to yourself so I never have to worry about looking like my middle school self again. To start with, I use Long Wear Even Finish Foundation($48.) I let that dry for a moment and then I sweep on the Sheer Finish Pressed Powder( $38.) I use pressed powder because with loose powder, its easier to apply too much, causing yourself to look cake. It is also easy to waste when using loose powder and when using makeup this expensive I can't afford to waste! Next I apply Bobbi Brown's Shimmer blush ( $27) on the balls of my cheeks and then add the finishing touch by brushing the Natural Bronzing Powder ($40) over my cheekbones and on the temples of my forehead. To finish up the eyes, I first use Almay Black Liquid Liner ($5.99) to run a thin line across the bottom of my eyelid. I let that dry, curl my lashes, and then apply Maybelline Falsies Volume Express Hydrofuge Flared ($6.39) mascara. Now for hair... to be honest - during the week days, my hair is a mess. I never straighten or curl my hair during the week and you'd be lucky if I even ran I brush through it in the morning. I shower at night, sleep on my wet hair and then wake up to natural waves that I either leave down, throw up in a pony tail, or braid if I'm feeling spontaneous. When I actually do style my hair I only use two products. I use Paul Mitchell Hot Off The Press ($22) before putting any heat on my hair to try to protect it as much as I can. Once I straighten or curl or whatever I'm doing to my hair, I run Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum ($21) through my hair from my ears down to reduce any flyaway, make my hair smooth, and get a silky shine. So there you have it! My morning routine and favorite products!
xoxo, Em Unfortunately, I did not have time to photograph my entire outfit today but I was really digging my jewlrey so I snagged a pic for you all! Fitbit Flex Bourbon & Bowties Fossil Flannel: Old Navy Sweater: Loft Vest: Michael Kors Today I wore the Southern Shirt Company Embroidered Pocket Tee. I love it! Usually when I want a larger, looser tee to wear with leggings I order a large but this medium seems as if it was made to be large and comfy! Southern Shirt Co knows that comfortable days are just as important to fashionable bloggers!! I love the shirt! Great color, soft, thick, and most important of all, its actually COMFY! I styled it with Nike leggings, Walmart crew socks, LL Bean Bean Boots, Patagonia vest, & Southern Tide hat. I also wore my Bourbon and Bowties pear bracelet, pearl earrings, and Fitbit Flex (review coming soon). I am very pleased with this shirt and you all can get it for 10% off with discount code "Emily10" at www.southernshirt.com. xoxo, Em

I have had the white cork board (Mom said she thinks it came from Marshals ??) for a few months but haven't gotten around to putting it up so I started with that. Then, I went to my favorite store, Walmart and found an awesome 50 pair shoe rack for only about $30. There are no longer shoes and jewelry stuffed everywhere! xoxo, Em
